Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Payroll & Compliance

  • Assist with analyzing and processing weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for multiple facilities
  • Conduct payroll audits to ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and federal, state, and IRS regulations
  • Research and resolve payroll issues related to taxes, withholdings, garnishments, and wage/hour regulations
  • Ensure payroll reporting and payments are accurate and compliant

Operational Support

  • Support HR and Payroll teams across multiple locations, including on-site coverage for HR/Payroll Managers and open payroll vacancies as needed
  • Travel weekly to facilities throughout Massachusetts to support payroll operations (up to 40% travel)
  • Submit mileage reimbursement for travel related to payroll coverage

Accounting & Reporting

  • Partner with Accounting to support proper labor distribution and accurate recording of payroll-related expenses
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual audits including:
    • Financial Statement Audits
    • Pension Audits
    • Workers' Compensation Audits
    • Employee Benefit Plan Audits
  • Support ACA reporting, Payroll-Based Journal (PBJ) reporting, and other regulatory filings as required

Additional Duties

  • Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as assigned by leadership

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field preferred

Experience

  • 1-2 years of progressive experience in payroll and/or human resources operations
  • Prior experience in long-term care environments preferred

Technical Skills

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong working knowledge of Office 365
  • Experience with timekeeping and payroll systems required
